I just received this email:

I would ignore it cause:

* Account e-mail
* Account name
* Account password
* Character name
* NCsoft account
* Birthday
* Secret Question and Answer

NCSoft would never ask you for your password and these are all the details someone need to get your acc. And if they had the feeling you would do this they would just ban your account.

Sounds like a serious scam attempt to me! They don't need ANY info from you to investigate any in-game wrong-doing. A-Net has all the logs and what-not that they need.

A-Net and NCSoft knows your characters' names, your e-mail, and you NCsoft account. And they'll never ask for your PW, since they don't need it. They don't need your personal info - name, address, birthday, etc. IMHO, someone is trying to not only snag your GW account, they're trying to steal your Identity.

I think you should delete it and run all the usual security checks on your PC.

I never give my personal info for this kind of email. However, i was unsure because of their email, seems pretty persuasive for me.

It doesn't sound very professional to me, nor does the address make much sense. Best report them to Anet or ignore, whichever.

You'll be fine, you can only get a virus if you opened/saved an attachment to your computer. It would have to be a pretty advanced hacker to manage to send a trojan in through text. - if all you had to do to shut down a computer was send an email, the world would be a lot more screwed.

I get messages like this all the time, "from" lots of different games, WoW being the majority of. If you check the properties of that email, you'll find the 'real' email address is just a cover, and it actually came from some random address, usually a hotmail one.

Ok thanks. No files/links attached. Just wondering how they got the email.

NCSoft blocks the account and leaves it up to the account owner to question the action. They do not initiate any contact.

I would also let anet/ncsoft know about it--so they know what the current scam that is on.

Another big give away is they ask for your name and surname - ive not known anet to ask for those details ever , in 6 yrs anyone could move house etc.
One thing i would do tho - contact support or leave a message on the new forum asking if the email can be forwarded to support and they may ( not saying they could tho ) look into things and put out a warning of this scam , it may seem a waste of time but if support got enough ppl saying about scams they can do something about it.

Infact reflecting - anet would never send an email out with those details , when they suspend/ban an account you would be the first to know when you try and log in and you would ( i think ) get an error number and it would be up to you to contact support and go from there.

Btw anet wont accept ( or they didnt almost 4 yrs ago ) any pictures of the codes or photos ( too easy to edit and change etc ) but they will accept a fax with the codes from each card.

Definitely a scam Anet/NCSOFT would never ask for your password or most of the details the email is asking you to provide.

I get so many emails like that for games I don't even play like WoW and Aion. All of them like the other spam emails I get from nigerian 'lawyers' trying to send me my supposed 'inheritance' get deleted straight away.

It is interesting though that the email they get sent to is not connected to any of the games I do play or forums that I visit but one that I use to sign up to anything that requires a email.

If you are worried definitely do a scan of your computer but if you haven't been to any bad sites or provided your account information to anyone you should be fine

its a scam.

ANET/NCsoft do not send you emails when your account is banned or suspended.
Also, does it even make sense that if you supply them with all your account details that they will drop all charges against you?
